2025 Ford Mustang Features
The Ford Mustang has been a symbol of American automotive prowess since 1964. Over the decades, it has evolved through six generations, each time setting benchmarks for style and performance. The 2025 Ford Mustang marks the dawn of the seventh generation, making significant strides in design, technology, and power. This model encapsulates the innovation Mustang enthusiasts have anticipated, with changes that elevate the driving experience while paying homage to its storied lineage. Find out more about this iconic model in this article.
What’s New in the 2025 Ford Mustang?
The 2024 Mustang ushered in the seventh generation of the model, introducing several major changes throughout the car. Aside from a refreshed design, it also featured more powerful engines and a track-ready model — the Mustang Dark Horse. Several performance-enhancing features and a Performance Pack upgrade were also available. These and many other features that made the 2024 Mustang a must-have are available in the 2025 model.
That’s not to say that the latest Mustang is a carbon copy of its predecessor. Ford is commemorating the Mustang’s 60th anniversary by offering an exclusive package to 1,965 units. Exclusive to the 2025 Mustang GT trims (convertible and coupe), the 60th Anniversary edition is a salute to the 1965 model. Some of its distinct features are 20-inch five-spoke wheels in Dark Gravity Gray, red wheel center caps and fender badges, Nite Pony headlights, and a throwback mesh grille. These limited-edition models are only available in blue, white, and red.
Aside from the 60th Anniversary package, the 2025 Ford Mustang also adds a software update that features a classic design for the digital gauge cluster. Mimicking the original dials of the 1967 Mustang, this fun homage ties into Ford’s celebration of the pony car’s anniversary. The over-the-air update is available for Mustang models 2024 and later. Dual-zone climate control is also now standard on all models, and opting for an automatic instead of a manual transmission on the Mustang GT comes at no additional cost.
Engine Options and Performance Metrics
The 2025 Mustang comes with rear-wheel drive and offers robust powertrains to satisfy any speed enthusiast. Available options include a 2.3-liter EcoBoost I-4 and 10-speed automatic transmission, delivering 315 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque for a dynamic driving experience.
The other option is a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V-8 engine with stop-start technology. This has a standard output of 480 hp and 418 lb-ft of torque, with the option to increase to 486 hp with an active valve dual-exhaust system. This engine pairs with a six-speed manual transmission, but you can opt for the available 10-speed automatic with paddle shifters.
Performance-Enhancing Features
The new 2025 Mustang has several features that enhance its performance. Its independent rear suspension makes for a responsive and smooth ride. The MagneRide damping system provides road-hugging handling, while the electronic line lock improves grip by enabling the driver to lock the front brakes, release the rear brakes, and warm up the rear tires.
The 2025 Ford Mustang also has selectable drive modes. Depending on the trim level, you can choose from Drag, Normal, Slippery, Sport, Track, and Custom modes. These modes adjust the car’s response so you can optimize it for the road conditions or your preferences. And with electric power steering, you can choose from Comfort, Normal, or Sport modes to tune the steering to your liking.
Acceleration and Fuel Economy
Acceleration figures for the Mustang vary depending on the trim and engine. EcoBoost models have a 0-to-60 mph sprint time of 4.9 seconds, provided they have the Performance Package. GT models fare better with a time between 3.9 and 4.3 seconds. The powerful Dark Horse trim tops the Mustang range with its 3-second acceleration time, according to estimates by MotorTrend. When it comes to fuel economy, the most efficient is the EcoBoost coupe. Its EPA-estimated ratings are 22 mpg in the city, 33 mpg on the highway, and 26 mpg combined.
State-of-the-Art Infotainment and Connectivity
The 2025 Mustang blends luxury and technological innovation. All trims come with a large, 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster that provides customizable displays and a SYNC 4 infotainment system with a 13.2-inch center stack touch screen. Notable standard and optional features include voice-activated navigation, FordPass Connect, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, SiriusXM radio, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and two smart-charging USB ports.
Lower trim levels have a six-speaker audio system with AM/FM radio and MP3 playback capabilities. Higher trims come with a nine-speaker system with an amplifier. A 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system with HD radio is optional in select models.
Other Notable Features
While the Mustang is famous for its powerful performance, its key exterior, interior, and safety features give it an edge over the competition. Apart from an instantly recognizable design — with its muscular hood and strong, aerodynamic lines — the Mustang’s exterior also stands out with tri-bar LED headlamps and taillamps, quad chrome exhaust tips, and unique badging. Inside, you’ll find a driver-centric cockpit, heated and cooled front seats, and ambient lighting. Available RECARO leather upholstery and six interior color themes add a touch of luxury.
Safety is paramount in the 2025 Mustang. Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes many driver-assistance features, including high beam headlamps, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, and a rearview camera. An optional feature in select trims is Ford’s Co-Pilot360 Assist+ system. This includes adaptive cruise control with stop and go, lane centering, evasive steering assist, and post-collision braking.
